What Is POCSO e-Box? How to Make an Online Complaint to NCPCR

POCSO e-Box is known as an online mechanism for communicating complaints of child sexual abuse to NCPCR, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights. The Commission has child-rights protection and POCSO monitoring functions. An online complaint can improve access, but it is not automatically a substitute for urgent police assistance, medical care or immediate protective arrangements when a child is at risk.

Understanding law and procedure

Legal reference date: 28 October 2026

Purpose of the online facility

POCSO e-Box is known as an online mechanism for communicating complaints of child sexual abuse to NCPCR, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights. The Commission has child-rights protection and POCSO monitoring functions. An online complaint can improve access, but it is not automatically a substitute for urgent police assistance, medical care or immediate protective arrangements when a child is at risk. [1][3]

Interfaces and complaint links can change. Begin with the official NCPCR website rather than an old tutorial or unofficial service. In October 2026, its Lodge Complaint page displays a Report Child Sexual Abuse Complaint (POCSO Related) option. Follow the process opened through that official route. Do not assume that every screen, category or authentication step shown in an older video remains current. [3]

Starting through the official website

Open ncpcr.gov.in and navigate to the complaint section. Select the option for a POCSO-related child sexual abuse complaint. Read the instructions on the official form or linked portal that opens. Provide the contact information, state, incident description and other details requested, based on what is actually known. Complete any verification required by the current screen rather than inventing steps from outdated guidance. [3]

Avoid imitation domains, advertisements and people offering unofficial assistance in exchange for credentials. Do not assume that another person needs your password or verification code to help. Where a child cannot complete the form or lacks a safe device, an appropriate trusted adult or authority can assist. Assistance should communicate the child's information accurately, without replacing it with a new or exaggerated narrative.

Writing the complaint

State the date or approximate period, location, age, available identification of the person involved and any continuing danger. Distinguish direct observations from what the child disclosed. If the police have already been informed, include available station, FIR or acknowledgment details. If something is unknown, say so. Clear uncertainty is preferable to incorrect precision that may later confuse the record or the investigation.

Submit only necessary documents through the prescribed secure channel. Do not put names, addresses or identifying details in public comments or social posts. Do not forward abusive images or videos in an attempt to create proof. Give an available URL and relevant context, and seek secure instructions from the competent authority about an actual file. Reporting should not create another avenue for circulation of exploitative material.

What to retain after submission

Keep any receipt, reference number or confirmation produced by the process. Save the submitted account, submission date and the official route used. If status tracking is available, follow its current instructions. Receiving an online reference does not necessarily establish that a police FIR has been registered. Clarify the actual procedural position rather than treating all acknowledgment numbers as interchangeable. [3]

Section 19 identifies the police or SJPU as the reporting authority. Where a statutory reporting duty arises, ensure that the information reaches the appropriate police authority. Do not wait for a response from an online complaint before addressing immediate danger or necessary treatment. Keep portal and police records separately so that follow-up accurately identifies which authority has received what information. [1]

If the link or process does not work

Temporary portal failure does not remove the option of informing local police or the SJPU. Do not repeatedly upload sensitive records to unofficial alternatives. Use official channels to ask whether the complaint was received, where it was referred and whom to contact next. Legal assistance may help where the procedural position is unclear. Confidentiality should remain central during every follow-up communication. [1][2]

Maintain a short checklist covering safety, healthcare, reporting status and any need for a support person. The facility is intended to improve access, not make the child manage a technical investigation. Accurate information, a safe device, limited necessary document sharing and separate confirmation of police reporting provide a practical basis for using the online route responsibly. Where possible, keep the receipt somewhere the child can access safely with appropriate adult assistance.
